SHOW REVIEW by The Bitterman: The Lemonheads at The Handlebar
As you may or may not know, The Lemonheads recetnly celebrated their 20-year anniversary of “It’s A Shame About Ray” by playing the album in it’s entirety. One of the stops along the way included The Handlebar in Greenville. We were going to do our own show review of it, but then immediately after the conclusion of the concert we got a text from our old friend, The Bitterman. He said he was interested in reviewing it, and after a few large beers we decided to let him. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, and I’ll just say ours isn’t that far off from his.

Just saw them last night in Asheville. Dando was deathly ill. Walked out onstage and said something to the effect of, “Sorry. I just woke up. My voice should get better in a little bit.” It didn’t. He played the entire show with his eyes closed and a breathe-right strip on his nose. I have no idea if the performance would have been better if he was healthy because he couldn’t get through the set fast enough. I wish they had just cancelled.
