INCOMING TRANSMISSION: WATU Announces Artist Directory !!!

It’s hard to believe we started the site a little over 18 months ago. While much has changed, our mission has stayed the same: to support local music as much as possible. One of the original goals with the site that I wanted to have was an artist directory so people could find each other, and other musicians in the Upstate. With an ever-growing influx of regionals realizing the Upstate is a vibrant and growing community, there has been increasing demand for quality locals. Before it was always a friend of a friend, or browsing the relatively useless sites like ReverbNation (not a fan, sorry).

So I decided to do my part and hopefully give people and artists a resource to find one another. I’m not going to make claims that the directory is perfect, but instead it is a starting point. I’ll be working on it some more all week and will be updating as well. Also please forgive any errors in layout, I’m not a programmer by any stretch of the imagination, just a guy who got to know a little basic html to make personal web-pages before there was a Facebook/Myspace/Friendster haha….yeah I’m that old.

For access the artist directory is in our taskbar, and is sectioned off into A-H, I-N, and O-Z (#’s also). As it grows we may break it down even further, but only time will tell. I hope this proves to be useful for everyone. Of course I decided to announce it on a major holiday because I totally forgot about it (as always).

So here’s what I need from you guys: Please browse the directory and let me know if anyone is missing that should be there/ I’ve omitted some because of recent break-ups or hiatuses or lack of recorded material. However if you know of a band gigging hard that I left out, PLEASE let me know! Also I intentionally left off “bedroom” artists, because the purpose of this directory is to help locals and regionals find bands/artists to share the stage with.

As of right now I believe there are 77 artists listed, so let’s get it to 100 by the end of the week! I’m only one person but together we are a community and stronger. As always thank you for your continued support, and PLEASE share this directory with others who may be interested.
