Whether we’re prepared or not (I’m not as hot weather is the Devil’s work and I prefer the cold), summer is here in full swing. This Friday, Greenville’s Handlebar plays host to a Southern fried Americana jamboree.

A stranger to virtually no one who meets him, Mark Webb will open the show up around nine. We at WATU have continued to comment on Webb’s status as one of the most approachable gentlemen in the Upstate. His demeanor in person reflects the same genuine sincerity found in his songs. Having seen Mark in both by himself and full band numerous times, I can attest to the fact that no matter how performed, his songs’ stripped down honesty and melodic storytelling make him one of the best country/Americana troubadours in the area. Look for him to be taking the stage around 9.

Headlining the show around 10 are Truth & Salvage Co. from all the way out in LA. While the City of Angels isn’t exactly the first, second, or even third place I’d think to guess where an Americana band came from, these guys have been building a name for themselves over the last 6 years, touring heavily and supporting acts such as The Black Crowes and Avett Brothers. Their sound seems to be more indicative of the current country seen moreso than full on Americana, but they’ll still make an excellent pairing with Webb for those who enjoy Southern tinged crooning.

The doors open promptly at 8pm and tickets are only $8, so get yours while they last!
