This Friday, an all ages show at the well-love Spartanburg hotspot for metalheads, Ground Zero. Do you remember the days of playing that Korn CD in your walkman until it was beyond scratched? On Friday, you can get those good feelings back with X-MAS, a grungey nu metal band.

They’ll be playing with Inviolate, an industrial Hard Rock band with a very nice sound. When a heavier band is female fronted, sometimes you don’t want to talk about it, because if you talk about it, it makes it seem abnormal, and you sometimes feel like you are contributing to the culture where women singers are weird. But on the other hand, you also sometimes feel like it’s unfair to not acknowledge how awesome it is. So choosing one side of the double edged sword, I’m saying that not only does Inviolate have a female lead, but they’ve got a great one. I’m really digging their sound, so you definitely want to pay attention for this one. PS, there’s a goddamned belly dancer.

They’ll also be with Absolute Convixtion from Charlotte, a hard rock and alt rock band. They’ve got a very listenable sound reminiscent of Chevelle, that sort of heavy sound with serious singing that sometimes moves into the more heavier side of things. Also opening will be Separate the Kids.

X-mas is a nu metal and hard rock band from little Traveler’s Rest, South Carolina who are attempting to pick up where Korn and Pantera left off, adding something new to the genre, which says a lot seeing as those types of bands aren’t producing the same kind of hits that they used to. You don’t hear many new tracks like that on the radio anymore. You can listen to some of the tracks from their album, As Wise as Serpents. Or for funsies, you can watch a video from three years ago, and compare it to where they are today:
