It seems no matter where I turn lately, I’m hearing about I Am Carpenter doing something. In addition to adding new members and returning to a 5-piece, they recently announced the completion of their long-awaited full-length My God Clara. I’ve only seen the band as a 3-piece so I’m looking forward to seeing them now with Fed To Lions Jeremy McCullough on guitar and Taylor Pescatore of Papa Stan on keys and percussion. The band will also be shooting a music video on June 24th, so any interested parties can contact them to sign up for that.

Joining them will be Nashville,TN’s Sound and Shape who are touring on their latest album Hourglass. While their sound is a little hard to pin down initially, it comes across to me like the best The Jealous Sound album Elvis Costello never recorded. The new 8-track album is embedded below and available for purchase. We’ve got them in the middle of their 3-week tour right before they head North, so we’ll definitely need to send them some Southern hospitality for the road.

Opening the show will be Greenville new-comer’s Where’s Wolf. While I don’t know much about the band, they recorded their debut EP this past November and it is available to listen below. One thing I like about this EP is that the vocals are sincere without being melodramatic. Tonally they puts me in the mind of the first Straylight Run LP but with more ornate arrangements that almost land them in Mumford and Sons territory. One things for sure: there aren’t many Upstate musicians who are on this musical path and even less who are doing it nearly as well. As with any new group, the live show is where they have to prove themselves but I’m looking forward to seeing what they’ve got in person.

The show starts at 10:00 PM and is $3.
