Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn!
Erm, whatever you say, Myles. We sort of leave Mr. Griffin to his own devices. He is seldom seen but often heard (we really can’t shut him up).Myles also has a fascination with something called “Cthulhu.” We nod and smile politely, allowing him to ramble on, when secretly we just hope he doesn’t try to appease these “Great Old Ones” by sacrificing our safety (or us).
That said, he is our wordsmith. Perhaps long-winded to some, it’s important to Myles that everyone get their due, so he tries to ensure every artist he covers that someone is listening to what they’re doing and thinking about it, which is precisely the sort of thing we’re trying to promote at We Are The Upstate!
Drop him a line with questions, comments, or review offers at myles@wearetheupstate.com! Please note, Myles will only respond to e-mails in which he is referred to as “The Mortician of Love.”

I just wanted to thank you on your article about msi. I’m glad that I’m not the only south carolinian who has heard of them, I think they’re greatly underappreciated, but I guess if they were more mainstream they might lose their ‘just stumbled upon their great cover art’ status… And I was incredibly disappointed that their closest tour location was in Texas… I would love to see them live, but I guess there’s just not much of an audience here. I was wondering how you felt about their newer music? I feel like they’ve been a bit ‘watered down’ since Frankenstein Girls…. Oh, was I supposed to refer to you as the ‘mortician of love’, because that just seems silly and undeserved… You should work on that… Anyway, great article, keep it up…
